Part 2 of our hamstring strengthening videos, this time we’re looking at eccentric strengthening. The hamstring muscles are subjected to large eccentric forces, especially during sport. Therefore we should train the muscle to be able to cope with these demands. An eccentric contraction means that the muscle is lengthening as it is contracting, and you can see this in action in the videos. Once again, consult a professional if you are in doubt about whether these exercises are suitable for you 👍🏻👌🏼 #hamstring #prehab #rehabilitation #physio #physiotherapy #strengthtraining
🏃♀️ Do you have hamstring trouble?? 🏃♂️
One of the major risk factors for hamstring injury, and a major reason for re-injury is weakness in this key muscle group.
In part one of a series of 3 videos, we look at a few examples of isometric and lower level eccentric exercises to strengthen the hamstrings.
If you have injured your hamstrings, or are new to strength training, it may be best to seek the help of a professional before starting out 👍🏻 look out for part 2 and 3 coming soon.

🏃♂️ ACL RECONSTRUCTION REHAB 6 MONTHS POST-OP 💪🏻 Working hard on deceleration and change of direction work with a semi-pro footballer.
Starting with simple deceleration, we encourage a low centre of gravity and a wide base of support during deceleration.
This position allows effective transfer of force when changing direction.
The second drill is deceleration with change of direction, where the athlete chooses their direction, before we add reactive change of direction through external voice cues and visual cues in the 3rd and 4th video.
Are you undergoing a lengthy rehab process after an ACL injury or similar? If so, give us a shout to see how we could help you 👌🏼👍🏻
